The capsule size ranges from 1 to 7 mm, allowing for the production of smaller capsules than traditional soft capsules. The excipients are made from the same materials as other gelatin capsule coatings and can accommodate a wide range of contents, just like other products.

[Analysis Case] Three-Dimensional Structural Observation and Membrane Thickness Analysis of Seamless Capsules

Evaluation and analysis of seamless capsules is possible using X-ray CT.

A seamless capsule is a spherical capsule without seams that can contain powders or liquids and is used in pharmaceuticals, among other applications. In this case, the 3D structure of the seamless capsule was evaluated using X-ray CT. As a result, foreign substances were detected inside the membrane. Additionally, the membrane thickness distribution was visualized in 3D and represented as a histogram. By using X-ray CT in this way, it is possible to non-destructively evaluate the internal structure, investigate foreign substances, and assess membrane thickness distribution.
